ACT 1 – THE ROLE

 To produce timely and accurate management information in accordance with specified monthly, quarterly and annual reporting requirements.

The role has focus of management accounting and forecasting relating to Property & IT costs across the UK&I cinema circuit and Chiswick Park Head office. The management accountant will support the Financial Controller by working closely with the Property & IT departments and the property & IT finance business partners and FPA to ensure accurate recording, reporting and forecasting of costs, liabilities and assets. The management accountant will provide insightful commentary for variances, cost opportunities and monitoring risks.

The role is responsible for the property & IT departments cost preparation and review.

KEY ACCOUNTABILTIES

Monthly/ Quarterly Reporting

  • Subject Matter Expert for IFRS 16

 

  • Review Horizon Lease Management system & prepare monthly accounting entries for 90 sites under IFRS16 & IAS 17

 

  • Accurate recording of Property, IT and assigned Head Office departments costs in accordance with applicable accounting standards – IFRS & IAS 17.

 

  • Provide written commentaries on variances to budget, forecast and prior year

 

  • Prepare balance sheet reconciliations for assigned accounts on a monthly basis

 

 Weekly Reporting

  • Prepare the KPI reports based upon the 4 week schedule between management accountants

 

Budget/Forecast Process

  • Prepare annual budget figures for assigned line items in accordance with issued guidelines

 

  • Prepare quarterly forecasts for Property, IT and assigned head office departments

 

  • Prepare forecasts for property leases under IFRS16 & IAS 17. Including impact assessment of changing lease terms.

 

Year End - November

  • Complete detailed Balance Sheet Reconciliations

 

  • Provide auditors with commentary of P&L movements and respond to queries as they arise

 

  • Preparation of statutory accounts

 

  • Complete the year end process within the agreed timelines

 

Controls and Procedures

  • Ensure changes in processes and procedures are agreed with FC and Senior Compliance Accountant

 

Finance Reporting for Designated Areas and/or Head Office

  • Assist the financial controller in reviewing monthly P&Ls for all individual sites within the designated areas

 

  • Assist with providing accurate and timely Monthly P&Ls and transaction listings to the designated Areas on a monthly basis. This includes writing commentaries explaining variances to budget, forecast and prior year

 

 ACT TWO EXPERIENCE YOU’LL NEED

Knowledge & Experience

Essential

  • Qualified accountant – ACCA/CIMA/ACA

 

  • Experience with Property accounting under IFRS 16 and IAS 17

 

  • Familiar with analysing large volumes of data and providing insights.

 

  • Solid experience of reconciliation of large volumes of data.

 

  • Able to demonstrate examples of proactively engaging, guiding, supporting and recommending solutions with non-finance teams to improve profit performance, transparency of performance and processes

 

  • Extensive knowledge working with Excel

 

  • Experience of producing variance analysis and commentary

 

Desirable

  • Experience gained within the Retail, Leisure, Hospitality sectors

 

  • Basic knowledge of MS power-point

 

  • Knowledge of Agresso financial system

 

 Skills

  • Attention to detail: Exceptional attention to detail and able to write insightful business commentary
  • Planning and organisational skills – able to deal with multiple tight deadlines and changing priorities
