This role focuses solely on the UK and Ireland business. With 839 screens across 86 cinemas nationwide, the UK&I remains the biggest territory serving over 30 million customers every year and employing nearly 4000 people.

Act 1 - The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Development Manager to join our UK and Ireland Technical Services Team. The Development Manager will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of technology services projects to meet business objectives aligned to the project portfolio priorities.

They will design, document and deliver new technical solutions aligned to the architecture roadmap. 

Main Responsibilities include:

Inputting into the overall IT architecture for UK&I to ensure that current and future business needs are met.

  • Inputting into the portfolio roadmap activities to define new projects and assist in prioritising activities.
  • Defining, developing and implementing architecture standards in conjunction with the Architecture Manager.
  • Working with internal stakeholders to understand business requirements and recommend technical solutions.
  • Project managing the design, delivery and operational handover of allocated projects, including completing post implementation analysis (this may be for implementation of own designed solutions or directing 3rd parties to implement).
  • Providing 3rd line support to IT Operations and Business teams, performing root cause analysis to resolve difficult or long running problems.
  • Managing 3rd line support issues which cannot be resolved internally.
  • Acting as an escalation point for high priority technical incidents.
  • Creating and maintaining Vue bespoke technical documentation.
  • Executing approved changes to the Vue IT platform as required.
  • Performing maintenance and correction of identified defects in the Vue IT platform.
  • Building and maintaining good supplier relationships.
  • Ensuring technical compliance with all company policies.
  • Ensuring compliance with IT security polices.

Act 2 -  What Skills and Experience you’ll need

  • Broad general IT experience in a corporate environment.
  • Extensive experience in designing IT solutions to meet complex business requirements, including anticipation of future needs.
  • A strong understanding of IT practices and governance and the ability to work with these to meet business needs.
  • A full understanding of the project delivery lifecycle.
  • A track record of technical leadership.
  • Working knowledge of non-functional requirements and requirements analysis.
  • Experience of working in a client server architecture environment (esp. Microsoft), including network, data centre, servers.
  • Experience with design and implementation of solutions which integrate with a retail PoS system.

Desirable but not essential:

  • Previous experience within a large Retail, Hospitality or Leisure organisation.
  • Vista PoS software experience.
  • Knowledge of Architecture frameworks/methodologies such as TOGAF.
  • Experience of medium size enterprise environments with 1000+ employees/200+ servers.
  • PRINCE2 and/or Agile certifications desirable
  • Experience of some of the below technologies:
    • Vmware
    • Databases MS SQL
    • Networking (Juniper, Cisco)
