Act 1 - The Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Financial Accountant to join our Group Finance team. Reporting into the Group Financial Controller the Senior Financial Accountant will support to the Group Finance team in preparing and reporting the consolidated results in a timely manner ensuring accuracy and integrity in the numbers to multiple stakeholders.
The role works closely with and supports the Territorial Finance teams as well as Group management.
Main Responsibilities include:
- Assisting the Group Financial Controller in managing the month-end cycle.
- Act as a principal liaison for the allocated territories ensuring a full and detailed understanding is gathered on territorial performance and reporting.
- Take ownership of finance costs calculations, monitoring and postings.
- Full responsibility for monitoring and maintaining non-recurring expenses analysis.
- Continuously reviewing our month end reporting cycle and procedures and develop & implement improvements and efficiencies.
- Work closely with the Group Senior Statutory Accountant in preparing and finalizing all Group consolidated and subsidiary statutory accounts.
- Developing and executing a year-end plan and providing clear guidelines and deadlines to territories for submission of year-end.
- Prepare, review and update accounts template for new reporting requirements.
- Managing all queries (both internal and external) relating to the year end process.
- Take ownership of the audit process.
- Prepare the year-end audit backup schedules.
- Assist with impairment review process including liaison with the Group FP&A team and preparing the impairment memo.
- Timely preparation of Group WACC in-line with the accounting standards.
- Providing transactions support.
- Managing investor relations, planning and executing the quarterly public results announcement.
- Preparing budgets and forecasting.
- Implementing and reviewing operational procedures.
- Managing cash and related compliance.
Act 2 - What Skills and Experience you’ll need
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA or overseas equivalent) with treasury experience.
- Experience of working within international Retail/Hospitality/Leisure business at Group head office.
- Strong working knowledge of UK GAAP and IFRS in particular IAS 7 / IAS 12/ IAS 21/ IAS 32 / IAS 39 / IFRS 7 & IFRS 9.
- Solid experience within a multi-currency environment and a deep understanding and working knowledge of FX accounting.
- A strong understanding of complex excel models with the ability to change/develop/re-design them at advanced level.
- Experience in introducing new processes to reduce risk, improve reporting efficiency and aid management decision making.
- Able to work with foreign subsidiaries to ensure Group objectives are met and deadlines adhered to.
- Able to respond to ad hoc reporting requests as required.
- A good sense of humour.
